Dolmus & Water Buses

There is a bus service, Dolmus, on the main road at the end of the street where the apartment is situated. This service is very frequent; you should not be waiting longer than ten minutes for a bus. The bus will take you into the centre of Fethiye, if you feel it is too far to walk. The bus continues to Calis. Walking to the center of Fethiye should not take much longer than 20 minutes. You can also catch a Dolmus on this road that goes to Oludeniz.

Water buses: There are Waterbuses from the harbour in Fethiye. They will take you to Calis or Marmaris as well as other places of interest.

Dolmus / Water Buses

Calis

Çalis is situated 5 km North of Fethiye. With its 4 kilometre's of beach and cool evenings in the heat of the summer, Çalis is especially noted for its unique sunsets.

Calis and Calis Beach can be reached by Dolmus (Bus) and are only 10 to 15 minutes from Fethiye. There is also a waterbus service from Fethiye. The Dolmus is a regular service. You will not be waiting more than 10 minutes for a bus to come along. They are a very cheap way to get around.

There is a Water Park in Calis and a Market visits on Sundays. Along the front at Calis Beach are a number of varied bars and restaurants. The beach is of gritty sand with some pebbles. There are sunloungers along this beach. A little further along the beach past the Dolmus Terminus is a Windsurfing Centre. The rates are very reasonable and the proprietor is fully trained and very helpful. They offer lessons for beginners.

The Beach at Calis

The beach is of fine gritty sand and pebbles. There are sunshades and lounges on this beach. Care is to be taken when entering the water as the ground drops quite sharply and can be a little rocky.

Calis and Calis Beach is a 15 to 20 minutes bus ride from the apartment. Approximately 400 metres past the end of the promenade at Calis Beach is a Windsurfing Centre. The Dolmus Terminus is halfway between the end of the pronanade and the Windsurfing Centre

Diving The crystal-clear waters along the shores of Fethiye are ideal for deep-sea diving, which is one of the fast-developing recreational sports in the world Fethiye is the third best area in Turkey for scuba diving. There are several companies operating certificate and daily courses. (Divers Delight and European Dive Centre). The nearest beach in Fethiye is Calis Beach, which can be reached by a short dolmus, bus or boat trip.

Life in the Mediterranean manifests a variety of fish, octopus, crayfish, lobster, eels and, less frequently, sea-turtles and dolphins. Innumerable fauna and corals.

Oludenis

Oludeniz is a 30 minute Dolmus ride from Fethiye and well worth a visit. The beach in this area is said to be the most photographed in Turkey. There is the Blue Lagoon, a paradise to relax, swim and sunbathe. Paragliding is available here for the more adventurous. Keep an eye to the sky to be sure you are not going to be landed on.

Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon) - Belcekiz

Ölüdeniz Lagoon and Belcekiz beach are known as Blue Paradise in the world. Colourful holiday complexes with lush gardens, camp sites and hotels provide a large capacity of accommodation for tourists. World Heritage Babadag hugs the area with its floral richness. After half an hour driving to the summit of Babadag, you can have an opportunity to fly single or tandem, do paragliding and land softly on Belcekiz. Recently parachute divers from the peaks of the 1975 m. height Babadagi, are facing with the most breathtaking panorama of the world.

Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon), referred as "The Eden bestowed by God to World" according to Tourism authorities, with very green pine forests reached to shores, tepid sea and long beaches in which all tones of green, blue and violet colour can be seen, is a wonder of the World.

There are numerous tourist facilities, restaurant, shopping centres, as well as health cabinets, showers - toilets, buffets, changing cubicles etc., within this unique bay, serving to enter sea possibility for ten months of the year, and transportation to the centre 14 km. away from province is supplied for whole day via dolmuses.

Beaches

Kidrak Bay at 3 km. south of Belcegiz, is an ideal daily resting place with its dense pine trees, clean beach and clear sea.

Faralya Sweet coastal village at the end of Kidrak road, is a resort place for wanderers with its wild nature, appropriate climate, friendly people and its attractiveness.

Oyuktepe Bays Mempasa, Küçük Samanlik, Büyük Samanlik, Boncuklu, kuleli Aksazlar, Akvaryum, Turunç Pinari etc. natural bays on the peninsula where you can enjoy good swimming and sun bathing.

Katranci Bay is 17 km. away from the city and on the Mugla Highway. Bay covered with dense pine trees extending to the sea. Has basic facilities : shower, WC, changing cubicles, drinking water, noted for its unique sunsets.

Göcek is 30 km. away from province, and on the Fethiye - Mugla highway. Göcek, which has an appearance of a sweet fisherman borough, become one of the most important centres of yachting tourism recently. It is an unique tourism heaven with its numerous bays and islands, near ruin places and surrounding pine grove hills besides its natural harbour. All kinds of services can be submitted to yachting people within marinas, and if required, they can also accommodate within small sweet facilities, and enjoy within fish restaurants and bars, and enliven their holidays with daily tours and water sports.

Islands (Beaches) Part named by fishermen as "Inside the Darkness", composed of islands and Kapidag Peninsula, adorned numerous bays, more beautiful than one another, is the resort place of blue voyagers. YASSICA Islands, Hamam Bay, Kursunlu Bay, Yavansu, Bedri Rahmi Bay, Tersane Island, Göbün Bay, Boynuzbükü, Göcek Island, Domuz Island, Zeytin Island, Kizil Island, reached via daily tours from Fethiye and Göcek, are also named as "12 Islands" within the region and holds the characteristic of most important attraction area.

Coastline and Surrounding Areas

There are a number of boat trips available from harbour. The 12 Island tour is an all day outing. Most will arrange to pick you up from your accommodation. The all in price of around £10 includes a meal. Be wary as the drinks are charged extra. Saying that it is a lovely day out.

The area is good for snorkelling. Unfortunately you will need to take your own equipment or buy some while you are there. A Diving Centre for those who are little more adventurous is also available.

There are Waterbuses from the harbour in Fethiye. They will take you to Calis or Marmaris.

Kelebekler Vadisi (Butterfly Valley) This interesting canyon, surrounded by 350 m. high mountains, 3 - 4 miles away from Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon), took its name from butterflies named "Jersey Tiger" seen between July and September months. Arrival to bay, which is an earth paradise with pink oleander flowers adorning environment and small fall flowing for summer and winter, wide coast, clean sea, glittering pebbles, is maintained from Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon) via ships. Camping area with tents, restaurant, bar, roof, shower, changing cubicles, etc. possibilities are submitted within the valley which is the meeting place of world wanderers

Dalyon & Caunus, Mud Baths & Turtle Beach

Enjoy a day sailing on the Daylon river,( “African Queen was filmed here” ) and seeing the sites of ancient rock tombs of Caunus, or spend a few hours at several mud baths, thermal spa’s and sulphur springs. In land From The Coast

Üzümlü Uzumlu village (grape village) is 18 kilometres from Fethiye, nestled in foothills. Here the quality varieties of grapes are still grown, Üzümlü literally translated means “ grape yard or place of grape”. As it’s name infers you will see grapevines scattered around all parts of the village and will find the locals will be happy to share their produce with you. On looms found in most homes, a local pure cotton material (known as ‘Dastar’) is woven by the village women. Table clothes & curtains are among the finished products available

Üzümlü village is located on a plateau, which it shares with neighbouring village of Incirkoy Incirköy means “fig village”. This village produces wine, grape-juice, vinegar, olives, olive oil, tobacco, fig and fig products as well as weaving

At an altitude of more than 500 metres Üzümlü and Incirköy villages enjoy very pleasant summer nightime temperatures in marked contrast to the coast where temperatures are much higher. During the winter months, the area of the snow line, which boasts snow-peaked mountains and incredible views and where you can find many fine slopes on which to toboggan or snowboard.

SAKLIKENT GORGE

This is a spectacular 18 km. gorge cut into the Akdaglar mountain. From the car park, first you must walk along a wooden boardwalk towards the restaurant (built over the cascading water). If you are not tempted by the yummy gozleme (pancakes) or trout, you must wade across the river (you can rent plastic shoes if you are unprepared) and from this point, you begin your ascent up the gorge, clambering over the boulders. It’s relatively easy at first, getting gradually steeper and harder. The gorge is totally shaded, so makes a good destination on a boiling hot day. Remember to dress appropriately - you will get wet, there are more restaurants over the bridge with camping if you want to stay overnight.

From Fethiye, take the direct Saklikent dolmus (1 hour) from the dolmus otogar.
